Misty River Campground is the perfect campground for visits to Cades Cove and other attractions in the Smokies.
With easy access to Maryville, Knoxville, University of Tennessee and the shopping and shows in Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge.

Campers have ample opportunities for tubing and kayaking the Little River.
You can tube right here at Misty River Campground. We have 2500 feet of river front for you to enjoy a nice lazy ride down the river.
Hiking is also a must while camping in Townsend, TN.
Many trails are available and are rated easy, moderate, or difficult.
Abrams Falls is a moderate 3.5-mile hike inside the Cades Cove Loop that takes about three hours to complete. Beginners and children may find it challenging, but the view at the top is worth the climb.

While camping anywhere in the Great Smoky Mountains, remember that the animals are wild. Even in the Townsend TN area.
Never feed the animals, or get close enough for the animal to be disturbed. Keep all food items and garbage safely stored following the recommendations of the campground’s office.

Our tent sites have a fire ring and picnic table. They do not have power or water at them.
FIREWOOD QUARANTINE:Firewood from a number of states, including two counties of Tennessee and two Canadian Provinces is quarantined due to an insect infestation by one or more insect pests (e.g. the Emerald Ash Borer) that is devastating certain tree species. Please help protect our forests from these destructive pests and do not bring firewood into the Park from the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin as well as Knox and Loudon counties in Tennessee and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec.
